This fall, Disruption Books celebrates our tenth year of transforming bold ideas into thought-provoking books. Over the past decade, we’ve been honored to publish so many incredible stories—and now we’d like to share our own.
Disruption Books was founded by West Wing Writers, a speechwriting and communications firm led by senior staffers from the Clinton, Obama, and Biden administrations. In 2014, the firm asked seasoned publisher Kris Pauls for early-stage guidance, and ultimately hired her to lead the new venture.
From the beginning, Kris believed in West Wing’s mission to “help good ideas get heard, good organizations lead meaningful change, and good people make a difference in the world.” At the same time, she knew that carrying that mission forward would require a radical departure from traditional publishing. And so our imprint practically named itself: Disruption Books was born.
Ten years later, we are a hybrid publisher with the highest standards of excellence for our ourselves and our authors—who include leading CEOs, visionary philanthropists, cultural icons, and thought leaders across many fields. Our team includes five full-time professionals with nearly one hundred years of combined publishing experience. For every author—and every project—we design custom end-to-end publishing programs. We take on books that we truly believe in, and our approach is committed to honoring the vision and individuality at the heart of every book.
